Kinesiology and Public Health 3 + 2 Program

3+2 Program Overview

The LSU School of Public Health and the LSU School of Kinesiology are proud to launch a new 3+2 accelerated degree track that creates a seamless pathway for students interested in combining movement science with population health—all while remaining on LSU’s flagship campus in Baton Rouge. This innovative program is designed for students who want to expand their impact, from working with individuals in clinical, fitness, or performance settings to improving health outcomes across entire communities.

This accelerated pathway highlights the strong connection between kinesiology and public health, particularly in areas such as health promotion, physical activity, chronic disease prevention, and community wellness. Graduates of the program will be uniquely prepared to bridge the gap between individual health and population-level change, advancing careers in public health practice, research, healthcare systems, and community-based health initiatives.

Through the 3+2 pathway, students who complete three years in the LSU School of Kinesiology with a GPA of 3.0 or higher are eligible to transition into the two-year, 45-credit-hour Master of Public Health curriculum offered by the LSU School of Public Health. Public Health classes will occur in Baton Rouge, coordinated the LSU School of Public Health’s Off-Campus Instructional Site (OCIS). After successfully completing the fourth year of study—the first year of MPH coursework—students will be awarded a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. Upon completion of the fifth year, students will earn their Master of Public Health degree.
