Community building

In creating a mechanism through which continued reflection on diversity and inclusion can be fostered and shared with campus leadership, the Community Building committee is hosting a Spring Diversity and Inclusion Conference for LSU faculty and staff.

Existing forums have been identified and utilized to include conversations about diverse issues important to students, faculty, and staff.

Affinity groups and caucuses have been given the resources to host receptions at the start of each semester and a dedicated time during new faculty orientation. Affinity groups and caucuses have also been given a direct plan to meet with LSU leadership each semester.

A training team has been developed with membership from faculty, staff, and students to provide diversity, equity, and inclusion training to the larger campus community.

Faculty and Staff are supported by their departments in doing trainings and participation is now considered in annual reviews/tenure process.

Metrics have been developed, in partnership with LSU Institutional Research, for acquiring and analyzing data needed to make fact-based decisions about advancing inclusive excellence in the future.

A new and improved LSU diversity statement was created to better reflect our collective and individual commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
