The mission of the Department of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness is to generate and disseminate knowledge supporting the food, agriculture, and natural resource sectors with advanced technology and analytical tools to enhance sustainable food security and quality of life for current and future generations in our state through innovative research, teaching, and extension.
To accomplish this, our vision is to be a premier center for the development and application of analytical techniques that contribute to sustainable food security and enhanced quality of life at the state, national, and global levels through exemplary research and extension programs, while inspiring students to achieve the highest levels of intellectual and personal development.

The LSU Agricultural and Applied Economics Association (AAEA) Academic Bowl team achieved a remarkable double victory at the 2023 Annual National Competition in Washington, D.C.
Raghav Goyal, an assistant professor within the LSU Department of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness, was awarded the prestigious Southern Agricultural Economics Association (SAEA) outstanding dissertation award.
Avery Hebert of Erath, Louisiana, has been chosen to represent the LSU Tiger Twelve Class of 2023. The recognition in LSU Tiger Twelve has been an aspiration for Hebert since her first year at LSU and has fueled her drive to become deeply involved on campus and in the community.
