Human Protocols (IRB) Module

The Human Subjects module of GeauxGrants is for the submission of research protocols to the Institutional Review Board (IRB) for the review and approval human subject research. In this module, faculty can submit applications, as well as modification, continuation, and adverse events forms to the IRB for review.

Institutional Review Board

The Institutional Review Board (IRB) protects the rights and welfare of human research subjects. Any research involving human subjects must be approved by the IRB before data collection can begin. It is the IRB's goal to assist researchers in conducting successful studies with human subjects, by helping them meet the criteria for IRB approval.

Human Protocols Step-by-Step Guides

To help faculty and staff learn the GeauxGrants Human Subjects module, we have developed a series of Step-by-Step Guides that provide straight-forward instructions relating to many parts of the protocol preparation and submission process. The guides are in PDF format and may be downloaded for later study.

Additional information can be found on the IRB FAQs page.

IRB for Student Researchers

Graduate and Undergraduate students who wish to submit protocols for their research must request a New Campus Profile in order to submit an IRB protocol. While processing requests generally only takes a few days, it can take up to two weeks, so plan accordingly.

Note: While students may initiate the IRB application, they must still list their faculty advisor as Primary Investigator throughout the application.
