The university-based research program was created under the Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act (SARA) of 1986 to meet the need for innovative strategies and technologies to provide solutions to the magnitude and complexity of Superfund assessment and remediation.

Louisiana Alliance for Simulation-Guided Materials Applications (LA-SiGMA) is a five-year project to position the State to compete for and secure a federally funded center of excellence in Louisiana by leveraging existing statewide computational, experimental, and intellectual assets.
